dc.description.abstract | Modern needs of youth demand the change of concept of architecturally-planning solutions for the
construction of medical centres at universities with an accent on creating multi-purpose and comfortable
space for youth, where the tasks of prophylactic medicine can be solved effectively.
The analysis of successful projects of medical centres for students with elements of “psychogenic
design” indicates that by means of architecture it is possible to achieve the result of youth consciously
turning for medical help and showing interest in prophylaxis of their own health. Everything depends on
the ability of design to guarantee the formation of an attractive for youth multi-purpose space. Most of
the surveyed students from Lviv higher education institutions have spoken for creating of university
medical centre of a new type, where solving functional medical tasks will be happening in attractive for
youth health-improving environment and will combine personality physical and psychological health
improvement in order to prevent diseases.
The department of architectural environment design at Lviv Polytechnic National University has
designed a series of educational and search projects which have applied meaning for implementation in the
future of new types of university buildings of medical and health-improving purpose in Ukraine. Based on the
analysis and generalization of world and national experience and developments of the department of
architectural environment design at Lviv Polytechnic National University, fundamentally new tendencies in
designing an attractive health-improving space for students have been defined. The suggested project
solutions are the first ones in Ukraine and are in accordance with the global tendencies of the organization of
functional and comfortable health-improving environment for students.
